2008 Ugly's review Feb 28, 2009
By Matthew B. Mclafferty

It has a lot of useful stuff it in and I prefer it over the Dr. Watts book because of the extra detail in in. The Dr Watts book is nice though because the pages are laminated but if they laminated this book it would be 3 inches thick. I am an electrician and would have to say that this book might be too complicated for some do it yourselfer electricians and I would probably recommend the Dr. Watts book. Otherwise, if your looking for a good detailed resource, this is it.

Good basic references & definitions. Jun 23, 2010
By S. Harris This is one Ugly book!
Sorry, I couldn't help myself. This is actually a good reference book if you want some very well written references for electrical basics. Ohm's, volts, etc... it's all in there.
Symbols, terminology and examples are well laid out in laymans terminology and easy to understand. It doesn't get too wrapped up in complex math, and the math that is given is very easy to understand because it is spelled out and all variables are clearly identified. Kudos to the auhor for a very comprehensive primer.

Electricians best friend Jan 28, 2009

I got my first Ugly's book in 1987 and have been buying them for my Journeymen for the past 10 years. Small enough to keep in the glove box or tool bag. Just a great reference guide for anyone in the electrical trade.

Great for practical applications Jun 10, 2009
By wise1owl I am a master electrician and have been involved in the electrical and engineering fields for 40 years. I also teach electrical and maintenance classes. This book, regardless of the year published, is my preferred text book and reference for all maintenance and electrical classes. It gives you a vast amount of info that is readily applicable to the people that actually do the work. A theoretician my not appreciate it, but when the "rubber meets the road", I heartily reccomend that every journeyman electrician or maintenance man have one in their tool box.
Exactly what I wanted Jun 04, 2011
By student This book was exactly what I wanted. It contains a concise and helpful summary of electrical information that I will use in my coming internship. VERY helpful.
