The author describes soil minerals and organic matter in soils and the soil solution, and provides in-depth coverage of important chemical processes, including solubility reactions, oxidation-reduction phenomena, adsorption, and ion exchange. The three final chapters present detailed applications to soil-plant relationships, fertilizer reactions in soils, acidity, salinity, mineral weathering, and soil management. Over 200 problems at varying levels of difficulty are coordinated with the text, and an appendix on SI units summarizes their use in soil chemistry. | | | |

This is such a noteworthy book Nov 23, 2008
By Dalton Abdala It is a very well written book. Although it brings traditional topics in soil chemistry, this book covers deep discussions on each of the subjects in an easy to go through. The suggested reading and the problem set sections provide useful assistance to those who seek for further details on related topics and the advantages of hands-on, respectively. It is an essential book for either beginners or upper class students in soil chemistry, agronomy and environmental sciences.
