With a focus on how structures really work, this book offers single-volume coverage of all major topics in structural analysis and design. Discussing concepts from both an engineering and architectural perspective, it explores structural behavior, structural analysis and design within a building context. This edition features a new co-author, new graphic format and expanded coverage in the areas of computer-aided analysis techniques, design of multi-story buildings, shell structures and cable supported beams. Reinforcing the real-world perspective, each book contains Multiframe structural analysis software to engage readers in sophisticated analysis and design activities.

5Excellent overview of structural systems  Dec 22, 2009 By A. I. Haque
This book is intended for architects but structural engineers will find it useful to see how structural theory is applied. The book focuses on ideas rather than hand calculational methods. It should be viewed within that context. You will not learn structural engineering from this book.

4Structures  Mar 26, 2008 By Octavio Martinez Ortega "O Martinez"
This is an excellent text book for Architecture students, about structural systems. This book is an indispensable reading for undergraduate. Is complement for understand reinforced concrete, steel and wood constructions.

3Its a structures book for architects or future-architects  Sep 01, 2011 By Omegaoveride
The book is a little poorly written, but makes attempts to explain things with a ton of graphics which is helpful. The structural engineer teaching my Structures 2 course even commented that the book is good for an architect's reference but isn't always correct and does not include "real word" situations which he wants to mix in with the curriculum. Its funny to hear that because some of the book's educational reviewers/editors are practicing structural engineers that teach at notable schools such as MIT, Harvard and Wentworth Institute of Technology.

1RUN AWAY!  Apr 30, 2008 By Psyprian
It seems as if the author was paid by the word. The explanations are loquatios and obtuse. The examples are often incorrect. And I believe the author delights in making the subject matter as abstract and arcane as possible. Even the CD is poorly designed. I will never buy another book authored by this man unless it is required for a class. There is one saving grace, the book is complete. If you can follow the often wrong examples and actually learn from this book, then this is a great reference book to sit on the shelf in your engineering office.

4From architecture point of view ....  Sep 12, 2000 By Denny Irawan
It's very good book in structure ( I will never use best or perfect in my review ). It's not sophisticated and not too excessive for architecture student. After reading this book you will know that structure design is not difficult it seems though it's not easy anyway. For architecture student, if you need only one book in structure this is the right book especially in understanding rigid frame structure, explained in hundreds of pages !
