2dummy and wrong?  Jul 27, 2004 By Gabree "gabree"
I would recommend this book to everyone who enjoys crafts and modeling, or just to everybody who is curios about the making of things, because this book contains ready-to-use printable and editable (look for the cd-rom) patterns for the most used types of packaging on the market.

Be aware that this book is just a collection, a dummy, with no explanations.

But unfortunately, all the examples I have printed directly from the source files were somehow misfit and ended to be weird useless objects (stuff for 'The Design of Everyday Things' by Donald A. Norman, if you like).

I am not sure if this problem is in my copy of the book (an 'errata corrige'?), I hope that you'll be more lucky than me.

To all design students I would recommend this book, instead: 'The Packaging Designer's Book of Patterns' by Lazlo Roth, George L. Wybenga

5I love this book!!  Nov 16, 2010 By Diana
It is not much to say..just buy it!! I am graphic Design student and I deal constantly with designing packages for books and graphic material...This book had helped me a lot. It has made my life so much easier. It comes with the CD so you can download the template, the format let you open the file in Illustrator or Photoshop so you can easily re-sizes it to fit your project.

4Good reference material.  Sep 10, 2009 By Leann L. Barker "l barker"
This book does not have information on the principles of package design. It's main purpose is to provide diagrams of 100's of packages. It is good reference material for those wanting to see how to lay out a package template and includes a CD of the templates. It is a valuable tool for those that do a lot of package design.

5a must-to...  Mar 08, 2009 By Mauricio DuCheylard "designer and firefighter"
For professional or house use, a great book, nice ideas, nice detail, the CD is the best complement. great!

4Good packaging ideas.  Sep 30, 2008 By Happy mom
If you're a visual learner like I am, this book will be helpful in giving you an overview of packaging design but without any words. This book is all about packaging examples, you can either reproduce, modify, or simply find inspiration from. If you are interested in understanding the why, you will need a different book, but for the how, this in my mind was very helpful, especially when it came to drafting in 2D.
