Armed with this book, chemical engineers will have a collection of modern strategies for the design of chemical products and processes. It emphasizes a systematic approach and integrates product design more thoroughly throughout the chapters. New case studies on process design are included to make the concepts more relevant. The social aspects and economics of product design are introduced, and the Stage-Gate Product Development Process is explored in parallel tracks for several chemical products. The accompanying CD-ROM also provides chemical engineers with numerous examples of the simulator input and output, with frame-by-frame instructions to discuss the nature of the models provided for the processing units.

3So many case studies  Mar 14, 2012 By Patrick
I feel like this book is just case study after case study. While I know that case studies can be useful, having them one after the other has made this textbook a pain to read through.

2Expensive but not great quality  Feb 09, 2012 By chemicalengineer12
This was a very expensive book but you can tell it was cheaply made. The binding starts to fall apart practically after you open it for the first time. I would tell you to go with the International version or get a paperback copy. This book is not worth the money.

5Essential process design book for chemical engineers  Jul 15, 2011 By CGS
I used this book in my chemical engineering process design course and found it immensely helpful. Many of the homework problems are excellent ways to practice using design software such as ASPEN. The methods and figures are clearly explained and easy to use if studied thoroughly. In general, this book deftly links the undergraduate chemical engineering curriculum to skills needed for industrial work. In particular, the book excels in its explanation of methods for estimating the size and price of process units in chemical engineering. It also builds awareness of the scale and nature of industrial processes, and the economic criteria needed for successful processes. The supplementary material is easily accessed online through the Wiley website and has many interesting process design problems worked out.

5one of the bests books for costing and design  May 19, 2011 By samuel
This book provides a lot of useful charts for process equipment costing, sizing and design. a must for a chemical engineering undergrad

2unfortunately you probably have no choice...  Jan 08, 2011 By sad chemE
... but to buy this book for class. Sadly, this is the most terrible engineering textbook I have ever encountered. The writing is wordy and not at all helpful, except for the occasional very very important piece of information buried in a useless paragraph. Overall, this text has tons of good information, but good luck finding/deciphering it.
