5Review of Nuclear Witnesses  Jul 06, 2011 By philbq
This is a monumental book. It is a collection of stories from people who were involved in the nuclear industry. These people were not at all anti-nuclear when they entered the industry. But after seeing the reality of the industry with its flawed and dishonest policies and the danger to the general public, they could not remain silent. Some of these people are historic figures in the history of the nuclear industry. John Gofman was one of the first people to work with plutonium while he was part of the Manhatten Project. Robert Alverez designed nuclear power plants for Westinghouse, and later was a senior official in the Dept. of Energy during the Clinton administration. Every story reveals the deceit about health risks and lack of concern for public safety by the nuclear industry. If all Americans could read this book, the nuclear industry would be done. It is neither cheap or safe.
