This text is essential reading on postgraduate courses. Furthermore, MRI in Practice has come to be known as the number one reference book and study guide in the areas of MR instrumentation, principles, pulse sequences, image acquisition, and imaging parameters for the advanced level examination for MRI offered by the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in the USA. The book explains in clear terms the theory that underpins magnetic resonance so that the capabilities and operation of MRI systems can be fully appreciated and maximized. This third edition captures recent advances, and coverage includes: parallel imaging techniques, functional imaging techniques and new sequences such as balanced gradient echo.
Building on the success of the first two editions, the authors have now re-conceptualized the design of the book. The third edition contains a wealth of additional illustrations and chapter enhancements draw on the depth of the authors' experience in delivering MRI education and training. To promote accessibility of difficult concepts, extended analogies have been developed to relate the complexities of MRI physics to everyday phenomena. Learning points are clearly articulated, and frequent summaries are included to assist the reader in digesting the information. | | | |

Best review book available Nov 21, 2003
By TBone This is a great text to study for the registry. I passed my first time studying only this text. It's very well written and easy (relative term in MRI) to understand. Also, get Meacham's Question/Answer book to accompany this book and you'll be set.

Really is MRI in Practice verses Theory Feb 12, 2002
By Nancy Kotinek I have been a MRI tech. for the past 12 years and have seen a lot of changes. This book is excellent for the "advanced" MRI tech and for the new MRI technologist looking for easy-to-understand explainations on how/why things work the way they do in the MRI field. I highly recommend this book to techs and referring physicians alike- a definite must-have for any technologist that wants to understand MRI, instead of just being a button-pusher.

explores all aspects of MR Imaging Aug 03, 1999 I read this book as preparation to become an MR Tech. I have re-read it, since I have become an MR Tech., to prepare for the registry. I find it very technical in some places. It could use more examples pertaining to every day life, instead of "quantum physics". It is however a good reference book to have in the department.

Best book on MRI physics that I have read Nov 30, 2002
By Dave I purchased a couple of MRI books and none made much sense to me until I read this book. The concepts of MRI physics is complex and hard to understand no matter what book you buy, but this book made it much easier to understand. It is clearly written in a logical format. I recommend the book highly.
