For the first time, beginning interior designers can learn how to graphically communicate their ideas with a resource that is designed specifically for them! While traditional drafting books focus on architectural and engineering readers, Architectural Drafting for Interior Designers eliminates the "widgets" and irrelevant coverage that is often seen, and incorporates material and examples that are relevant and meaningful to today's interior designers. This book also addresses the specific needs of beginning interior designers by focusing on topics needed before AutoCAD is even introduced, such as how to draw a floor plan, how to use it to create an interior elevation, and how to understand the relationship between 2D and 3D drawings. The only book that is written to the standards of the NCIDQ and interior design trade associations like NKBA, this will provide readers with a strong, standards-based foundation in interior design.

5clear, comprehensive, chock-full of information - a book every new interior designer must have!  Aug 01, 2009 By Marc James
i have read quite a number of interior design/architectural books, and by far, this ranks right up there with one of the best in terms of clearly conveying the fundamental concepts of the interior design process from start to finish. this book turned out to be so much more than what i expected prior to reading it. the author does such an excellent job in walking you through - methodically, logically, sequentially - the experience of the interior designer, giving you necessary background information (such as the constructional, architectural, and regulatory bases for certain standards, measurements, and processes) to help the reader better understand the reasons behind each phase and detail of the interior design process. she skillfully presents the technical information so that it is thorough, fundamentally complete, and relevant to the interior designer's scope of practice - making the information in the book easily comprehensible. i am more than satisfied with my purchase. this book has given me a wealth of knowledge and problem-solving skills to add to my repertoire of interior design, and as a fledgling interior designer, it has boosted my confidence in this new endeavor of mine. 4Textbook  Sep 06, 2011 By mmatt
This book is very informative for first time drafters. It focuses, of course, on interiors rather than exteriors, but it is comprehensive in terms of tool use and the basic skills needed. One important thing to keep in mind (that I didn't realize, but I got lucky!) is that if you buy this book for a CLASS, you probably don't want to buy a used one off any old website. There are worksheets in the back of the book that coordinate with lessons throughout. Your professor may not use them, but mine does and I am glad that mine were all still intact. Make sure you ask your seller if the worksheets are all still there!

5Fantastic Textbook  Dec 15, 2010 By Constance Smithwick
This textbook literally taught me how to draft from start to finish! As a novice, I was intimidated by the tools, let alone the material. Lydia's book will take you from neophyte to successful drafter in a semester. Worksheets really help to learn the material and to do the actual drawing. Concise and clear language turns complex information into learnable skills. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to draft, and I know that I will keep the text for future reference. Great book!
