Practical problems and real data are used throughout as illustrations. Each chapter ends with a summary of practical concerns, a number of exercises and a short list of references for supplementary study. This textbook is suitable for any university or mining school that offers senior undergraduate and graduate student courses on mineral resource/reserve estimation. | | | |

Applied Mineral Inventory Estimation Aug 20, 2003
By David Abbott This is an excellent book covering all aspects of the subject including data collection, verification, and analysis along with geostatistics. Good sections on making sure that the statistically derived answers make geologic sense, a most important aspect. Anyone in the mineral inventory estimation field should get a copy.

Fundamentally Flawed Jan 06, 2005
By J. W. Merks This textbook is based on the premise that the true variance of the distance-weighted average can be replaced with the pseudo kriging variance of a set of degrees-of-freedom and variance-deprived functionally dependent kriged estimates. The distance-weighted average was reborn as an honorific kriged estimate but that could not possibly make its variance vanish without a trace. Just another textbook were the requirement of functional independence and the concept of degrees of freedom are ignored with impunity.
