Parr, began a stationary gasoline engine company in the late 1800s, they probably never imagined how the industry would grow and evolve throughout the next century. Now is your opportunity to follow their company, Hart-Parr, from the beginning with the building of the first gasoline traction engine, the No. 1, through the merger which created the Oliver Farm Equipment Company in 1929, and then the purchase of the company by White Motor Company in 1960. All of the related farm tractors are featured in this book from Hart-Parr to Oliver to White. This is the definitive guide to the incredible tractors that helped define farming during the 20th century. Author Larry Gay has taken each model and researched it providing all the pertinent information and photographs, even Nebraska Tractor Test results. For the first time, Oliver, Hart-Parr, and White enthusiasts can see for themselves the evolution of this incredible tractor line. With the turn of a page, watch the models change and improve. Behind-the-scenes stories give you the entire picture. The appendix features Nebraska Tractor Test results and serial numbers. This book, with over 200 black-and-white photographs, will provide hours of enjoyment and will become a treasured reference tool. | | | |

Best book on Oliver Tractors Feb 17, 2001 The best book I have found on Oliver tractors. The most complete with specifications and pictures. Goes through complete line and history of Oliver tractors. I have bought several of this book to give a gifts. If you want a book on Oliver tractors, start with this one.
Great Book Aug 02, 2011
By Lacey Book was given as a gift. My boyfriend was very happy with the book. He enjoys the older tractors and the Oliver is something fairly new for him.
Covers a wide time range - bit not much detail here Nov 29, 2007

Seems to cover everything, but with very little, if any, information that is not available somewhere else - most of it on the web at no cost. Very little depth here and for that reason I was disappointed. It says it covers all models, but in fact it does not mention half the industrial and special models that were manufactured. For example, just dealing with the 550: there no mention that later 550s were called White 2-44s. No mention of loader and/or backhoe models, optional extras like cabs, drawbars, 3 points, hydraulics or the Cockshutts made with the same specifications. I am sure the book would have to be twice as thick to include this, but this is a review, so you should now that. But as an introduction it is quite OK. I found the history of the Hart Parr years interesting, however.
